The establishment of the United Nations Asia-Pacific Center for Human Rights Training in Mongolia was pledged during the honorary session of the State Great Hural (Parliament)
2023-12-09 Print 435The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a milestone document in history that everyone has inherent value, dignity, preciousness, and inalienable rights, regardless of where they are in the world and who they are. The 75th anniversary of the adoption of this Declaration, approved by the resolution of the UN General Assembly, will be on December 10, 2023.
The "National Human Rights Forum-2023" was organized by NHRCM on December 8, 2023, and discussions were held on topics such as "Human Rights and Digital Development," "Human Rights and Equality," and "Human Rights and Climate Change." Government and non-government organizations, the private sector, representatives of international organizations, scientists, researchers, lawyers, journalists, employees of media organizations, and representatives of human rights defenders actively participated in these discussions, determining problems, proposing solutions, and outlining implementation methods for the protection of rights.
On the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, an honorary session of the State Great Hural was held today December 9, 2023.
Participants in the session included the Prime Minister of Mongolia, Dr. Sunjid Dugar, the Chief Commissioner, the Commissioners of NHRCM Mrs. Dondov Sangisharav, Mrs. Munkhzul Khurelbaatar, Dr. Narantuya Ganbat, Ph.D. Enkhbold Batzeveg, Ph.D. Tselmen Yadamjav, the General Election Committee of Mongolia, representatives of the former Speakers of the State Great Hural, ambassadors, the United Nations and international organizations in Mongolia.
Furthermore, Mongolia continues to adhere to the Declaration's principles and declares its intention to uphold human rights in the future.
1. The parliament should act as a leader in approving and supervising laws that are essential for the protection of human rights and freedoms, fulfilling obligations under international instruments, and reporting on the state of human rights to the UN Human Rights Committee.
2. Aligning domestic laws with treaties, establishing guidelines for the application of international treaty provisions in adjudication activities, periodically updating the State Great Hural on the status of international treaty recommendations and obligations fulfillment, and conducting public hearings for review.
3. Providing human rights education to citizens and youth. Publish textbooks, organize training to empower the beneficiaries and obligees, and educate them.
4. Create a human rights manual for government officials, to increase knowledge and awareness of human rights, and create legal arrangements for certification.
5. Within the framework of the UN principles for older persons issue documentation on the rights of older persons.
6. Adopt and implement the National Human Rights Program II.
7. Celebrating the 80th anniversary of the United Nations in 2025, therefore, make 2025 the year of the United Nations.
8. Introduced the initiative to establish the Asia-Pacific Regional Center for Human Rights in Mongolia and appealed to the members of the State Great Hural to support it.
